Fair Work Inspectors are targeting smaller businesses.

News >> Employment Practices Liability

Make sure your documentation is in order. Fair Work Inspectors are dropping in to businesses of all sizes to check that the instruments and conditions that staff are employed under are fair, equitable and legal.

Fair Work Inspectors do not have to give you notice of their visit. They will ask to see your documentation around employment when they arrive. If you have no documentation, they will rely solely on the instruments that are legally in place to see that you are compliant.

These instruments include the National Employment Standards (NES) as well as the Modern Award.

Employment conditions can be a minefield and it seems to change quite regularly. To keep ahead of all the legislation and award changes, you need to have a current  contract of employment for all your staff, and sub-contractors.

However, a contract of employment is not enough. Do you have the other documentation that a Fair Work Inspector would like to see, such as Position Descriptions that are up to date, complete and available?

Small business owners usually have more than enough to do just running their business. How do you keep on top of all of these changes and requirements with employment conditions?

There are many ways to handle this. You can obtain the services of a Human Resources Professional. Or perhaps you already have the capabilities within your firm. Then perhaps you should have this work reviewed or audited.

What about if it was combined with the continual availability of legal advice.Unlimited expert advice on workplace relations issues to prevent claims at source. Then In the event of a claims, representation by Sparke Helmore, one of Australia’s leading law firms. On top of that, what about comprehensive audit of workplace documentation to identify and resolve any compliance issues. Then on top of that, how about $1 million of cover for workplace relations claims, underwritten by Chubb, provided clients follow our advice.

AUDIT ,ADVICE , LEGAL REPRESENTATION & COVER all in one insurance policy. Not just any ordinary Employment Practices Liability cover but a total risk management solution for employers.

It is called Employsure, and CPR Insurance Services can provide this to you
